The New, The Better.... Or The Best?
Our culture is throughly saturated with advertising. Each day we are barraged with appeals for our attention. And every appeal claims in some way it offers something new or better. Or both.
There is nothing wrong with being new or better. Our problem is that we have come to see these two adjectives as synonymous - as if anything new is always better, and if something is better it must be new.
Sadly, an obession with new and better is the biggest gimmick in the pet food industry. The list is endless and is always changing to get your attention. "It will make your dog smarter," "It will add two healthy years to your pet's life," "It will keep your dog's teeth cleaner," etc. Sound all too familiar? Well, it should!
These are nothing but selling gimmicks! The truth is genetics determine how smart your dog will be and how long it will live, barring any accident. The only thing to keep your pet's teeth cleaner is through brushing them. Claims of Xylitol in foods and treats will help keep your pet's teeth cleaner. However, what these companies do not tell you... Xylitol is on the toxic list by the ASPCA!
The next time you are in the Super Pet Supply Store or even your local Grocery Store notice just how many different foods one company makes. If their "new" was indeed "better," why then do they have their "old" and "worst" still for sale?
